Waterford NPS

The final round of the Irish NPS rolled into Waterford last weekend.  With a lot of the categories yet to be decided, it meant a lot of pressure for the riders.

Tom Power is the main man behind the event running it on behalf of 021racing.

After a long and difficult season, a lot of the riders were showing signs of tiredness. The Whitehorse course dosen’t take prisoners, it’s over 2 minutes of intense concentration all the way down, one lapse and your sure to find youreslf in the nearest tree!

021racing had a big contigent of racers as always, showing there support for the Irish Series.

021’s youngest star Cameron Cornforth U14, rounded off another race with a super 3rd place, making sure he kept 3rd overall for the series.  Cam is one to watch in 2009, as the guys that beat him this season are moving to the U16 category!

Cam’s dad Antony, missed out on a podium but finished 2nd overall in the Veterans!

Kev Ryan had a very consistent season and this showed with a fine 10th overall in the very competitive Senior category.

JT ( John Thompson) made his way into 3rd place in the Masters category, a great result, proving that his 3rd place at the Irish Nationals wasn’t a fluke!

Greg O’ Keeffe went into the final round wanting to keep his 3rd overall in the Elite mens.  Greg suffered a heavy fall on the first run which left him in 5th.  Mean while Gerard Wolfe put it a fantastic time to take the lead.  This meant that Greg had to finish 3rd to keep his 3rd place for the series.  021’s main man didn’t dissapoint and pulled back 20 seconds, to set the 3rd fastest time of the day, just 4 seconds off the win and retain his 3rd place finish for the Irish National Points Series.

So as another season draws to a close, riders can reflect on what might have been and draw some inspiration to train harder over the chilly winter months, so that they can come out fighting next spring!
