The Kinetica Cross Country Mountain Bike Race Series 2012

www.cyclingireland.ie

As we draw closer to the start of the series, excitement is building and many people are enquiring as to how it all works. Hopefully we can answer a few of your questions here.

The first round is being held at Tracton Woods on Sunday January 29th, just 10 minutes drive from Carrigaline of Co. Cork. It’s the home trail of the Mountain Bike club of Cork. Its a cracking venue for XC racing. This year it will also host a round of the National Points Series in May.

There is no pre entry! You can just show up and register and race on the day!

The event is open to all. Beginners, Improvers and Elite racers.

The timetable for the day goes something like this:

9am Registration opens and Course open for practice laps.
9:30am Kids Coaching hour begins. Note kids must register first!
10:30am Kids Coaching hour ends and course is cleared.
10:45am Under 8’s, 10’s & 12’s races begin.
11:15am Under 14’s & 16’s races begin.
11:45am Prizes for Youth categories at main start line.
11:45am Registration for Adult categories close.
12:00 Elite Category start.
12:01 Sports Category start.
12:02 Ladies category start.
1:30/45 Main prizegiving at registration tent.

There are no entry fee’s for all categories under 16’s. We are doing our best to make sure Youth rider development is given opportunity to grow.
For all other categories there is an entry fee of €10 per person.

Race licenses as per Cycling Ireland criteria are required. If you have a full or restricted license then just bring it along on the day or a copy of the confirmation email you received from Cycling Ireland.

If you do not have a license you can purchase one on the day at the race, we do not set these prices, they are set by Cycling Ireland and they are necessary in order to cover you with insurance at the event.

Rider’s who do not have any type of Licence: Rider will need to purchase a 1-Day Race Licence. Cost is €20 for Senior, €10 for Junior and €5 for Youth for 2012.

Medals / Prizes and refreshments will be awarded to Youth rider categories.
Trophies and prizes will be awarded for all Adult categories.

All current 2012 members of any Munster based Cycling / Mountain bike club are entitled to gain overall series ranking points if they finish in positions 1 through 20. You need to compete in a minimum 3 of the 5 series races in order to qualify for the overall title of Munster Champions in your respective category at both Youth or Adult categories. Overall series Champions will receive limited edition “Munster Champion Jerseys” and eternal mountain biking kudos!

Just to clarify, Mountain bikers from outside Munster are very welcome to come along and race and place on the day however they are not eligible for overall series titles. Please note Godfathers and Carbon fibre techo geeks are also welcome but may have to pay entry visa fee’s! You know who you are lol!

All competitors must present themselves with a safe good working order Mountain bike and Helmets are mandatory for all competitors!!!!!!

Parking is limited and we would ask people to car pool where possible and to park considerately and follow marshals advice on the day.

Teas and coffee’s will be available in the race area and there is also the Overdraught Bar and Restaurant at the entrance to the woods should you require a more substantial feed. We would ask people kindly to adhere to good outdoor practice and bring all rubbish home etc.

Spectators and Parents / Families are welcome. We recommend all young children are supervised and you should come with warm outdoor clothing / rain gear and boots / wellies. Bring your camera, cow bells, rattlers and cheering skills!
